# Social Logins

> Instructions for configuring social login options

## Discord

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a Discord Application">
    1. Go to the [Discord Developer Portal](https://discord.com/developers/applications).
    2. Click on "New Application" and give it a name.

  <Step title="Configure OAuth2">
    1. In your application settings, navigate to the "OAuth2" tab.
    2. Under "Redirects", add the following URL:

    ```
    https://yourdomain.com/api/auth/callback/discord
    ```

    Replace `yourdomain.com` with your actual domain name where the application is hosted.

  <Step title="Get Client ID and Secret">
    In the "OAuth2" tab, you will find your Client ID and Client Secret. Keep these values handy as you will need them in the next step.

    <Tip title="Important">
      Discord doesn't show your Client Secret after creating your application. So you need to reset it in order to get the value.
      Make sure to copy and save it securely, as you won't be able to retrieve it again.
    </Tip>

  <Step title="Configure the application">
    Update your application's configuration file (e.g., `.env`) with the following values:

    ```env theme={null}
    DISCORD_CLIENT_ID=your_discord_client_id
    DISCORD_CLIENT_SECRET=your_discord_client_secret
    ```

    Replace `your_discord_client_id` and `your_discord_client_secret` with the values you obtained from the Discord Developer Portal.

## GitHub

  <Step title="Create a GitHub OAuth App">
    1. Go to the [GitHub Developer Settings](https://github.com/settings/applications/new).
    2. Fill in the required fields, including the "Application name" and "Homepage URL".
    3. Under "Authorization callback URL", add the following URL:

    ```
    https://yourdomain.com/api/auth/callback/github
    ```

    Replace `yourdomain.com` with your actual domain name where the application is hosted.

  <Step title="Get Client ID and generate Client Secret">
    After creating the OAuth App, you will see your Client ID on the app's page. To generate a Client Secret, click on "Generate a new client secret" and copy the generated value.

    <Tip title="Important">
      Make sure to keep your Client Secret secure and do not share it publicly.
    </Tip>

  <Step title="Configure the application">
    Update your application's configuration file (e.g., `.env`) with the following values:

    ```env theme={null}
    GITHUB_CLIENT_ID=your_github_client_id
    GITHUB_CLIENT_SECRET=your_github_client_secret
    ```

    Replace `your_github_client_id` and `your_github_client_secret` with the values you obtained from the GitHub Developer Settings.
